Mediterranean house on the island of Majorca.
The villa’s authentic Majorcan woodwork and the tiled floor, which formed the basis for the design, give the rooms space and character. Back in the day an extra large table in the kitchen was considered a must-have, since cooking and eating were such an important aspect of life in Majorca. Hence, we decided to give this table with a steel underside. In order to balance out the stronger elements we also placed rugs throughout the house. The client’s love of art inspired us to install a wall for framed art in the investment room (i.e. the client’s study).
Colours and materials
We often select serene colours for our designs, but this house required a more colourful palette with warm grey tones. The fabrics used for the many rugs and linen curtains are realised in the same tints as the walls and bring the elements together in an atmospheric unity.
“The sweet, Mediterranean scents of Palma de Mallorca emanate from inside the house.”
